STYLE FILES: Oh Christmas Tree!

There is nothing more magical than standing before a freshly decorated Christmas tree, lights glimmering, cup of hot cocoa in hand and family all around! So today, I thought I would share some fun ideas for decorating your tree!

Gone are the days, where the beloved Christmas tree must look a certain way and be done in the assigned Christmas colors – red and green. While some prefer to stick with this classic theme, feel free to branch out (pun intended) and create something entirely different! Here are some tips to creating a look that is unique and elegant!

Choose a theme color and stick to it. Carry it through out the room and even into your gift wrappings to create a harmonious look.

  1. I love the small tabletop trees and branches- perfect for small spaces!

  2. Love the colored trees! The aqua & pink are awesome. However, for families with young children, these should be a “second” tree. The Christmas I was 8 my Mom did an all gold tree. Even though she bought me a tabletop tree for my room, Christmas just wasn’t the same! None of our traditional ornaments, you know the ones I’d seen all my life? None of the ones I had made & so proudly hung on the tree every year. So, until your kids are older or gone…if you want the “designer tree” have two!!

    • Tammie- I could not agree more with you. When my kids were little, we had at least two trees. One that I decorated for myself (the designer tree) and one that i would let my four girls decorate without any worries of too many ornaments clustered in the same spot, all of them at child height. It is so true that with kids, there definitely should be a family tree where they play a part in the tradition and that they will remember forever. Thanks for sharing! Merry Christmas……Lori

  3. Your post definitely got me in the holiday spirit. Those are beautiful trees! I love to match my color schemes with desserts and tasty snacks. For example, the first image makes me think of serving some mint flavored holiday treats like mint hot chocolate and thin mint cookies.

    • Mmmmm.. that sounds so good- I posted a great idea on P’interest yesterday – candy canes dipped in Chocolate to use as stirring sticks for hot chocolate. Yummy!
      Thanks for the feedback. Lori
